Sometimes irony reveals more truth than reverence ever could.

This mixed media piece was created on original Belgian newspapers from 1993 and 1999 — editions filled with royal headlines, ceremonies, and carefully staged smiles. Painted over them is Kermit the Frog, dressed in a decorated military uniform, assuming the posture of nobility.

By merging pop culture with monarchy, humor with history, I wanted to expose the theatrical nature of both — the illusion of grandeur and the performance of power. What fascinates me is how easily icons, whether royal or fictional, can embody the same archetypes of control, spectacle and projection.

It’s both a satire and a mirror.
